As I scroll through the photos I took over the weekend, I am struck by the historic moment they capture. In the final days of May 2020, thousands of people around the world took to the streets, united in their powerful demand for justice and change. These images, serve as a testament to the unwavering spirit of those who refuse to remain silent in the face of oppression and inequality.

The city streets were buzzing with the energy of a thousand hearts beating as one. Men, women, and children of all colors and creeds poured out of their homes and onto the streets united by a single purpose. In the wake of the video that captured George Floyd’s death, the world was awakened to the harsh reality of systemic racism, and the people had had enough.

The aftermath of these protests is a complex mix of emotions – from the awe-inspiring revolution that they sparked to the heart-wrenching tragedy of the destruction that followed. And the worst part? It’s not over yet. As much as we try to cling to the good, it seems like the darkness of evil and malice always manages to steal the spotlight.
It’s almost like the world is ignoring the positive impact of these protests and instead choosing to focus solely on the negative – the riots and the chaos. But we can’t let that overshadow the bravery and courage of those who took a stand. These protestors risked their lives and livelihoods to demand justice and equality, and that’s a legacy that deserves to be celebrated.

As I walked the bustling streets of downtown Indianapolis, my heart beat with a fierce passion for justice. The air was thick with the spirit of compassion, as I marched alongside a powerful group of protesters, their voices ringing out in a thunderous chant: “Black Lives Matter!”

As I stood there, witnessing the protests unfold before me, my heart was filled with hope. Amidst the chaos and confusion, I saw protesters coming together, not as adversaries, but as allies.
I saw them offer each other water and masks, small gestures of kindness that spoke volumes about their shared humanity. I heard them encouraging one another to remain peaceful, even in the face of aggression. And when someone needed help, they called out, and others rushed to their aid.
But the moment that truly touched my soul was when I saw two men of different races (Black and White), who just moments before were strangers, embrace each other in a moment of raw emotion. They held hands, united by love.

Don’t believe everything you see in the media! Sure, there were a few bad apples who tried to spoil the peaceful protests, but the overwhelming majority of people were spreading positivity and love. Let’s not forget the powerful moments of empathy and connection that we witnessed during those protests. We need to hold onto those moments and continue to love and support each other, no matter what.

I believe those in power are going to continue to shove hate down our throat to divide the people. But in spite of their tactics like the war on racism or the carnage from a pandemic, the people are more resilient and stronger when together. The power of the people is much greater when we are one.
